FAQ

Common questions, friendly answers.

We've been answering parent questions for thirteen years. Here are the ones that come up most often. If yours isn't here, call or email us - we love talking to prospective families.

Enrollment and Waitlist

How do I join the waitlist?+

Submit our online waitlist form any time. A refundable $75 deposit holds your spot. We process waitlist offers in order of deposit date. For infant spots, we recommend joining six to nine months before your intended start date.

How long is the waitlist?+

Infant spots have the longest waitlist, often running three to six months. Toddler spots average two to four months. Preschool and Pre-K spots open more frequently, sometimes within four to eight weeks. We keep our waitlist families updated every month.

What is the enrollment process once a spot opens?+

When a spot opens, we contact you by phone and email and hold it for 48 hours. If you'd like to proceed, you'll schedule a tour (required for all enrolling families), complete our digital enrollment packet, and attend a brief teacher meet-and-greet before your child's first day.

Do you have a gradual start period?+

Always. We believe a cold-start full day harms children's sense of safety. Your child begins with shorter days and builds to a full schedule across the first week. The timeline is customized based on your child's age and temperament.

Can I enroll mid-year?+

Yes, when spots are available. Mid-year enrollment follows the same process. We work hard to make mid-year transitions smooth with extra teacher attention during the adjustment period.

Tuition and Scheduling

What does tuition cover?+

Tuition covers full-day care from 6:30am to 6:00pm, all meals and snacks (prepared on-site), all classroom materials, curriculum activities, field trips within the neighborhood, and daily communication through Brightwheel.

What are your tuition rates?+

Infant care begins at $2,290/month for five days. Toddler care begins at $1,980/month. Preschool begins at $1,790/month and Pre-K at $1,710/month. Part-time options are available for preschool and Pre-K. Sibling discount of 10% applies to the lower-tuition child. Contact us for a full tuition packet.

Do you accept childcare subsidies or scholarships?+

Yes. We participate in the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) and reserve a minimum of two subsidized spots per classroom. We also offer a limited number of internal scholarships funded by our annual fundraiser. Ask us about current availability.

Do you offer part-time schedules?+

Part-time (three days per week) is available for Preschool and Pre-K. The toddler and infant programs require a minimum of four days per week to maintain the consistency children need. We do not offer drop-in care.

What holidays are you closed?+

We follow Denver Public Schools' holiday calendar for closures: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday after, and a winter break aligned with DPS (typically Dec. 23 to Jan. 2).

Health, Food, and Wellness

What is your illness and exclusion policy?+

Children must be fever-free (below 100.4 degrees F) for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning. We also exclude for vomiting, diarrhea, rashes of unknown origin, and any illness listed in CDPHE's exclusion guidelines. We will contact you promptly if your child becomes ill during the day.

What if my child has a food allergy?+

We take food allergies extremely seriously. Families complete an allergy and diet restriction form at enrollment. Our kitchen prepares allergy-safe meals for affected children separately, and all classroom staff review allergy plans at the start of each year. Epinephrine auto-injectors are stored in the classroom if prescribed.

What do you serve for meals?+

Our on-site kitchen serves breakfast (oatmeal, fruit, eggs, or whole grain options), a hot lunch (rotating menu of soups, grain bowls, sandwiches, and seasonal vegetables), and two snacks daily. We participate in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program and prioritize local and seasonal ingredients. Monthly menus are posted on Brightwheel.

Are naps required?+

All children in the infant, toddler, and preschool programs rest after lunch. We never force sleep, but we do ask that all children rest quietly for at least 45 minutes. Pre-K children have a shortened rest period, after which quiet activities are available for non-nappers. You're welcome to send a small crib lovey or blanket.

Do you support potty training?+

Absolutely. We follow the family's lead and support potty training as a partnership. Please let your child's teacher know when you're beginning the process at home. We use consistent language and offer regular potty opportunities throughout the day. We never shame or pressure children around toileting.

Safety and Security

How do I add or remove someone from my child's pickup list?+

Pickup authorization is managed through your enrollment profile on Brightwheel. You can update it at any time. Anyone not on the approved list will be asked for photo ID and we will call a parent or guardian to confirm before releasing a child - no exceptions.

What security measures does the building have?+

All exterior doors use keypad entry codes that change each semester. The classroom wing requires a separate keypad or staff escort. The entry vestibule has a camera and staff monitoring at all times during operating hours. We do not prop doors.

What happens in a medical emergency?+

We call 911 first, then immediately contact the family. At least one staff member with current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification is present in every classroom at all times. We have a written emergency action plan for anaphylaxis, seizures, and other acute events.

What is your background check process for staff?+

Every employee - including part-time, substitute, and kitchen staff - undergoes a Colorado Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check and an FBI background check before their first day. Background checks are renewed every two years or immediately if the employee has a gap in service.

How do you handle outdoor supervision?+

State ratios are maintained or exceeded at all times indoors and outdoors. Our playground is fully fenced and gated. Teachers conduct a headcount at departure from the classroom, upon arrival at the playground, and again at playground departure. We do not use a single-teacher outdoor model.
