FAQ

Questions worth asking any advisor.

We believe in transparency before, during, and after the engagement. If you have a question not answered here, ask us directly.

About the firm

Are you a fiduciary?+

Yes. Brevard Wealth Partners is a fee-only Registered Investment Advisor and held to a fiduciary standard at all times, meaning we are legally obligated to act in your best interest. We accept no commissions, no referral fees, and no soft-dollar arrangements.

How are you compensated?+

We charge a transparent annual fee billed quarterly, based on assets under management. Fees begin at 1.00% on the first $1M and decline at $2M, $5M, and $10M breakpoints. Standalone financial plans are available on a fixed-fee basis. We will always show you exactly what you pay.

What credentials does your team hold?+

Our principal holds the CFP® and CFA designations, with 22 years of experience. Our planning team includes a CPA on staff for tax coordination and an Enrolled Agent for IRS representation when needed.

Getting started

Is there an account minimum?+

Our ongoing wealth management engagements typically begin at $1,000,000 in investable assets, though we accept clients on a clear trajectory toward that threshold. Project-based planning has no minimum.

What happens in the first meeting?+

The first meeting is a 45-minute conversation, at no cost and with no obligation. We ask about your goals, your current situation, and what you have already tried. We share our approach and answer your questions. At the end, we both decide whether to continue.

How long does it take to get a financial plan?+

From our first meeting to a delivered written plan is typically four to six weeks. Most of that time is data gathering and analysis. The plan itself takes about two weeks to build once we have what we need.

Custody and security

Who holds my money?+

Your assets are custodied at Charles Schwab Institutional. Brevard Wealth Partners never takes custody of client funds. You receive statements directly from Schwab and have 24/7 view-only access to your accounts at all times.

Working together

How often will we meet?+

Most clients meet formally with their advisor twice a year: once for portfolio review, once for comprehensive planning. You have unlimited access between meetings by phone or email. We return calls the same business day, without exception.

Do you only serve clients in Charlotte?+

We primarily serve clients across the Carolinas and the Southeast, but we work with families nationwide. Virtual meetings are standard. We visit in person on a schedule that suits each household.

Will Margaret Brevard personally work with me?+

Yes. Our model is intentionally small. Every client relationship is managed by a principal-level advisor. We have chosen to grow slowly rather than add junior staff who handle client relationships independently.

Services

Do you manage 401(k) accounts I cannot move?+

Yes. We provide 401(k) management for accounts that must stay at a current employer, integrating the fund selection and allocation into your overall plan without additional cost.

Can you help with a business sale or liquidity event?+

Yes, and ideally several years before the event. Pre-liquidity-event planning around QSBS, installment sales, charitable vehicles, and Roth conversion can make a meaningful difference in after-tax proceeds. We work alongside your M&A attorney and CPA.

Still have questions?

Call, email, or schedule a conversation.

Margaret or a member of the planning team will respond within one business day. We return every call.
